On Sunday, October 14th, First United Methodist Church celebrated our children by having a worship service devoted to them.  All the children from preschool to sixth grade of our church participated in the worship service.  Nelson Robbins and Tanner Dinsmore were the Ushers.  Aubrey Langford played the piano at the beginning of the service as well as during the offertory.  Karen Thead, Deanna Thead, and Aubrey Langford put on a puppet show for the children that mesmerized the younger ones.  It was a very busy and involved service.

Bro. Stacy included all the preschool children, ages three to four, and Nelson and Tanner in most of the worship service.  He began the service by explaining to the children that they must prepare for worship by the way the dress and by making themselves clean.  He explained how in some churches there is a place for the ministers to wash their hands before the service because during the worship service the ministers will be handling holy items.  Bro. Stacy then washed each child's hands in a bowl of water and proclaimed them each holy and set apart.  He then explained about dressing for church and gave them all a bag with items to keep them busy in church, such as coloring books, colors, and stickers.  Bro. Stacy also included the preschool in the morning message as he told "The Tale of Three Trees," a traditional folktale.  The children also collected strips of paper with names and prayer concerns written on them to make a prayer chain.
