HYMN SING & ICE CREAM SOCIAL:Active Image

On Sunday, August 9th, First United Methodist Church had its annual hymn sing involving all the local Macon churches.  Musical selections were presented from the First United Methodist Chancel Choir, as well as Calvary Baptist, Macon Presbyterian, and First Baptist.  After the hymn sing, we all enjoyed homemade ice cream in a variety of flavors including peach, strawberry, heavenly chocolate, Mexican chocolate, lotus, orange sherbert, and vanilla.  There was also a table of homemade cookies and desserts for our guests.  It was a great time of sweet fellowship with our Christian friends from the community while enjoying the special music and delicious ice cream.  Here are some pictures from our hymn sing for you to enjoy.  CLICK HERE HYMN SING.

SWIMMING PARTY AT THE ROGERS:

On Sunday, August 2nd, Nicky and Vicky Rogers hosted a Back to School Swimming Party for the children.  Even the littlest ones had a pool to play in while the bigger children splashed and played until the sun went down.  A wonderful buffet of grilled hamburgers and hotdogs were waiting for the children and adults after swimming followed by an ice cream sundae bar and brownies.  It was a perfect way to say goodbye to the summer and hello to school.  Here are some pictures from the swimming pool fun.  CLICK HERE SWIMMING.

A PACKED CHURCH WELCOMED THE LAMB FAMILY VIOLIN ENSEMBLE:
Active Image
On Sunday, August 16th, the Lamb Family Violin Ensemble performed to a crowd of churchgoers from Macon Presbyterian, Macon First Baptist, Calvary Baptist, First United Methodist Church, Brooksville Baptist and many others.  They delighted everyone with their energetic performance from the Psalterium CD which includes Christian favorites like "The Wondrous Cross" and "His Eye is on the Sparrow" as well as the spirited fiddle tune of "Orange Blossom Special".  Besides playing the violin, the Lamb Family, can also sing as demonstrated by their rendition of "Over the Rainbow".  The entire performanActive Imagece was enjoyed by young and old alike.  One of the highlights of the night included a beginning violin performance by Macon's own Bill Bell.  No one will hear "Pop Goes The Weasel" without remembering his mesmerizing performance!   To learn more about the  Lamb Family check out their website, http://www.lambfamilymusic.com/index2.html

WEDNESDAY NIGHT MEALS & BIBLE STUDY WELCOMED WITH GREAT ATTENDANCE:Active Image

We started our Wednesday night family meals and Bible study this past Wednesday, on August 12th, with great attendance.  Forty or more people attended the meal and stayed for Bible study.   The theme for this meal was "Old Fashioned Pot Luck."  Every month we will have one themed Wednesday night meal.

Our first study is from a little book by Dr. Gerald Mann entitled You Can Begin Again.  The subjects we will discuss are:  You can begin again:  (1) After you have been left out; (2) After Great Sorrow; (3) After Moral Failure; (4) After 40; (5) After Burnout; and (6) After Betrayal.

NURSERY WORKERS:

We need 12 people who are willing to be nursery workers during our worship services.  One person or couple for each month of the year.  It's time to step up to the plate for our children's ministry.  Jolynn Cotton has the sign up sheet.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Reverend George Jackson will be here to preach on September 20th.  I'm sure we will follow his service with dinner on the grounds in the fellowship hall as we have done with the other pastors who have preached this year as a part of our 175th Anniversary Year.
