A LETTER FROM ROBERT FRITCHEY, REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF THE SOCIETY OF ST. ANDREW:

Dear Friends,

Earlier this year a Washington, DC charity encouraged people to skip lunch on Martin Luther King’s Day or Inauguration Day. Then, donate the money that would have been spent on lunch to feed hungry people. This is a great idea, but we would like to suggest that we take it a step farther.

We can choose our own particular day(s) and then let's fast and pray.  Pray for our nation, pray for our new President and our leaders, pray for the Society of St. Andrew and its efforts to feed those that don’t get enough to eat. Pray for other missions, pray by name for those who you know are in need, and pray for the hungry. This could all be done in the time that you would normally set aside for your meals. When you feel hungry, let it be a reminder of God's provision and care and thank God for your blessings. Fasting and praying are appropriate and meaningful ways to consider others and drawn closer to God.

We would ask you to please share this idea and forward it to your email contacts. If you feel moved, please send a check to the Society of St. Andrew to the address below (or make a donation at our website
www.endhunger.org/donate_now.htm. ) (Note from Tina:  I couldn't get this page to come up, so try donating by going to this page www.endhunger.org/donate.htm )  This past year 2008, we placed over 2,763,270 million servings of fresh produce on the plates of those who are hungry in Mississippi. You were a part of making it happen. Thank you for helping us to feed our hungry neighbors.

In His Service,

Bob
